Curated by Burcu Ölmez, the exhibition “Weather Forecast: Downpour Love” addresses the energy and complexity of love from a multidimensional perspective. Combining the striking effect of neon lights with different materials in his works, Ergin Varlıbaş invites viewers to discover the emotional and philosophical layers of love in his exhibition.

“Love sometimes caresses our soul like a light breeze, sometimes envelops our entire being like a sudden downpour. In his exhibition ‘Weather Report: Torrential Love,’ Ergin Varlıbaş presents this emotional intensity to art lovers through the energy of neon lights and the harmony of various materials.

Love, one of the most powerful themes in art history, has been depicted in countless works, from Dante’s mystical admiration for Beatrice to Frida Kahlo’s passionate letters to Diego Rivera, to Gustav Klimt’s masterpiece The Kiss. Varlıbaş takes this universal emotion beyond classical expression, reinterpreting love in a modern language. In his works,

The artist combines the striking effect of neon lights with different materials, inviting the viewer to explore the emotional and philosophical layers of love. Reminiscent of Victor Hugo’s words, “Love is a force that can extinguish even the sun,” this exhibition approaches the energy and complexity of love from a multidimensional perspective.

The Mold series featured in the exhibition also draws attention. Inspired by the mold patterns on the walls of an abandoned building, the artist elegantly visualizes the cycle of transformation and renewal in life. Mold appears not only as a symbol of decay but also as a symbol of nature’s own creative process.
